Baseball: Novara throws no-hitter to help lead Dexter to sweep of Saline

Wyatt Novara was simply brilliant.

The Dexter pitcher threw 98 pitches over seven innings and the Saline Hornets couldn’t hit one of them. Novara tossed the no-hitter while striking out 12 in Dexter’s 2-0 win in the second game of a double-header at Saline on Monday.

o on the mound on Monday, as Novara threw a no-hitter to lead Dexter Dreadnaughts Varsity past Saline 2-0. Dexter managed only three hits but scored twice in the sixth inning to break a scoreless tie.

Garrett Sharp, Davis Bennett and Braedn Fuson each had one hit to lead Dexter.

The Dreadnaughts also won the opener 7-6 in the SEC battle.

Dexter trailed 4-1 after four and 6-2 after five before scoring three runs in the sixth and two in the seventh. The Dreadnaughts had eight hits and just one error.

Brennan Parachek and Joey Tessmer each had two hits for the winners. Bennett had a home run and two RBI.

Dexter’s Cam Rosen went five innings and recorded seven strikeouts.

The two teams will meet again at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Dexter.
