Update: Paint Dexter Plein Air Festival 10th anniversary Aug. 15-20

Paint Dexter Plein Air Festival will be celebrating its 10th anniversary from Monday, Aug. 15 through Saturday, Aug. 20. We are happy to announce that for this momentous occasion, we will be bringing the Festival back to an in-person exhibition and sale under the tent in Monument Park. This means that your favorite activities and events will be returning, including plein air workshops, artist get-togethers, the gallery tent and more.

New Website

Paint Dexter has a new online home at PaintDexter.com (previously PaintDexter.org).

2022 Paint Dexter Judge

We are excited to announce that the 2022 Awarding Judge for the Paint Dexter Plein Air Festival will be Ken DeWaard. Ken has been painting en plein air for more than thirty years. He began his career studying watercolor under Irving Shapiro at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and then continued his early training at the acclaimed Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Art with Scott Burdick as well as independent study with Daniel Gerhartz. He has won numerous awards around the country at various plein air events and invitationals such as Easton, Laguna Beach, Door County, Cape Ann, Sonoma, Richmond, and Florida, as well as painting in China, Italy, and Russia. Artist Registration

We anticipate that registration for participating artists will open on or about April 8th. When the form is ready, artists will be able to register at: https://paintdexter.com/artist-registration/

The Dexter Arts, Culture, and Heritage Committee is looking for volunteers to 1) host an artist in their home during the weeklong Festival; and 2) assist with Paint Dexter Plein Air Festival operations. We welcome any interested individuals, groups, and artists to sign-up for one of the volunteer opportunities that the Festival has to offer. For more information, please visit: https://paintdexter.com/volunteers/.

Property Painting Registration and Volunteers

Do you have an interesting house, field, stream, or barn on your property? Are you interested in having a painting of your property created by an amazing artist?  We are creating a list of properties within the Dexter School District where our participating artists can go to paint *with the permission of the property owner*. The addition of your house to the list does not guarantee that your property will be selected by an artist. For more information, please visit: https://paintdexter.com/volunteers/
