Around Town: Winter storm updates; Wanted – Recreation Coordinator; What You Love About Dexter; more

City Office Closure

The Dexter City Offices will be closed on Thursday, February 3, 2022 due to the predicted continuation of snowfall and inclement weather. The City Offices will reopen on Friday, February 4, 2022.

Snow Removal Reminders

Generally, snow will be removed and salt applied to roads in the following priority order: major roads (Central, Baker, Main, Broad), local roads (neighborhood streets), downtown and parking lots, alleys, and trails. As a result of snow continuing to fall on Wednesday and Thursday, City crews will focus on keeping major and local roads clear until snowfall ends. Once the roadways have been cleared, crews will return to remove and/or relocate the snow piles in cul-de-sacs and downtown parking areas. This work is often done in the middle of the night for ease of access and for safety purposes due to lower traffic volumes.

As snowfall continues, please remove all cars from the street.

Residents: Please clear your sidewalk of snow and ice within 48 hours of snow cessation.

Business owners: Please clear your sidewalks within 4 hours of snow cessation or by the start of your business day.

Please shovel the snow onto your property. It is against City Ordinance to shovel the snow into the street or onto a neighbor’s property.

We also request that you please help the fire department by making sure that fire hydrants around your home or business are cleared of snow, accessible and visible from the street as soon as possible after a snow storm. Every second counts in an emergency situation.
