Around Town: Job Postings, Wood Chipping and Christmas Tree Pick-Up

City Job Posting

The City of Dexter is currently looking for an Assessing Field Worker. If interested, please click here to view the job posting on the City’s website.

This position will be a part-time position performing field work for the City Assessor. Fieldwork consists of measuring and photographing buildings and property within the City, and data entry for the purposes of property assessment. The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently, interact with the public in a respectful manner, and a willingness to learn. A valid driver’s license, high school diploma or GED is required. Work hours for this position are flexible during regular business hours Monday through Friday, 16-24 hours per week. Starting pay is $13 – $15 per hour.

Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee Opening

The City’s Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee is looking for a new member to join the committee board. If interested, you can fill out a Committee Application Form and send it to Justin Breyer via email at jbreyer@DexterMI.gov or by dropping it off at the City Offices at 8123 Main St., 2nd Floor.

The Committee meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm and is an 11-member group that advises City Council on the development of arts, culture and heritage; promotes and publicizes projects that support arts, culture and heritage; serves as advocates for arts, culture, and heritage and encourages networking and collaborations of the arts, culture, and heritage of the City of Dexter.

Wood Chipping and Christmas Tree Pick-Up

The City of Dexter’s DPW will be conducting tree trimming city-wide on Wednesday, January 19th throughout the day. They will also be picking up Christmas trees during this time. The night before the 19th, please place your Christmas trees between the sidewalk and curb/street if possible for pick-up.

Office Closure

City Offices will be closed on Monday, January 17, 2022 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Garbage/recycle collection will NOT be delayed and will occur on Monday, January 17, 2022.
