Golf: Dreadnaughts finish strong at SEC Championship Tournament

With a strong showing the SEC tournament early in the week, the Dexter golf team proved they are ready for the state playoffs. The first round of the postseason is June 1 with Regionals at Dearborn Country Club.

And it appears the Dreadnaughts are ready to tee it up with the best in the state after finishing fourth at the very competitive SEC Championship Tournament on Monday at The Grande Golf Club.

Dexter was second in the SEC White tournament behind Chelsea and fourth overall. Skyline, the No. 1 team in the state, tied a school record with a team score of 292 to finish first overall and claim the Red Division title.

The Dreadnaughts had a number of strong showings on the scorecard.

Dexter’s Jack Kolka shot a 73 (1 over) to finish second in the SEC White and fourth overall which earned the senior a spot on the SEC All-Tournament Team.

Joey Fracassi shot an 85 and also ended the league season with All-Conference recognition.

Dexter’s Niko Michos and Lucas Koone both shot an 87 and placed 13th for the Dreadnaughts.

Dominic Sortor shot and 89 and was 17th while Jacob Hofe carded a 95 to finish 25th.
