Competitive Cheer: Dreadnaughts open season at Woodhaven Invitational

The Dexter competitive cheer team made the trip Downriver on Saturday and couldn’t be happier to be back on the mat. The Dreadnaughts competed in the three-team Woodhaven Invitational and placed third overall.

Dexter faced two quality programs in Woodhaven and Plymouth and it was a good start to the season. Teams are grateful to be able to start the season and that enthusiasm was evident from the first cheer to the final one on Saturday.

Dexter scored 187.80 points in the first round and then scored 171.86 in round two and 223.90 in the third round. The Dreadnaughts finished with a 583.56 total.

Plymouth finished first overall with 693.66 points, just beating out host Woodhaven. The Warriors landed with 683.98 points.

Dexter heads to Melvindale on Wednesday for the Melvindale Quad 2. The Dreadnaughts will face even tougher competition with state powerhouse Gibraltar Carlson and defending D-1 state champion Allen Park on the bill.
