Around Town: City offices closed; Notice from WAVE; Yard-waste update

City Offices Closed to the Public

Effective March 16, 2020 at 5 pm the City Offices will be closed to the public. Drop boxes for turning in absentee ballot applications, paying utility bills, etc. are located next to the door of the Sheriff’s Office at 8140 Main St. and just inside the Main Street entrance to the City Office (8123 Main St.). The outdoor drop box at 8140 Main St. is available 24/7; the drop box at the City Office (8123 Main St.) will be available 9 am to 5 pm.

Water bills can also be returned by mail or paid online at dextermi.gov. Absentee ballot applications can be returned by mail or photographed or scanned and e-mailed to jbreyer@dextermi.gov.

Notice from the WAVE Board of Directors

At a special meeting convened at 9 am on March 14, 2020, the WAVE Board of Directors voted to suspend all transit programs effective Monday, March 16, 2020 through April 5, 2020. 

“We realize this will have an impact on the transit dependent populations we serve.  WAVE will closely monitor the situation to determine the beginning of normal operations. In the meantime, we are exploring ways to use our staff and equipment for the wider good of the community.”

Yard Waste Bag Collection

Yard waste collection by Waste Management does not start until Monday, April 6, 2020. Please do not set bags out to the curb until this date.
