Girls Basketball: Dreadnaughts bounce Jackson out of the gym 70-34

The Dexter girls’ basketball team jumped out to a 21-6 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in a convincing 70-34 victory over host Jackson in an SEC White Division game on Tuesday night.

The Dreadnaughts led 36-12 at halftime and outscored their hosts 22-16 in the third quarter and 12-6 in the final period.

Four Dexter players netted four or more points in the opening quarter and nine players finished with at least four points.

Sophomore Sydney Pnacek led the way with 14 points. She had 11 points in the first half.

Senior Kyleigh Valentine knocked down four triples to finish with 12 points.

Junior Olivia Mellifont had 10 points, including a triple. Sophomore Brianna Rodriguez (two triples) and junior Shannon Schoch each scored eight in the win.

Alayna Babut had six points and Kylee Niswonger, Kaila Simpson and Kylie Cabana each scored four for Dexter.

The Dreadnaughts play at Lincoln on Friday.
