Girls Basketball: Dreadnaughts run record to 7-1 with easy win over Lincoln

The Dexter girls’ basketball team bounced back from a tough loss to Saline last week in a battle of unbeaten teams with a pair of easy wins this week. After knocking off Jackson 60-32 on Tuesday, the Dreadnaughts defeated visiting Lincoln 75-22 on Friday night.

Dexter improved to 7-1 on the season and travel to Lenawee Christian on Thursday for a non-league game. On Friday, the Dreads play at Ypsilanti in an SEC White contest.

Against the visiting Railsplitters, Dexter jumped out to a 13-5 lead after one quarter. They led 32-13 at halftime after scoring 19 points in the second quarter. The Dreads continued to pile up the points in the second half. They scored 13 in the third and 30 in the final quarter while holding Lincoln to nine points in the second half.

Dexter had three players reach double-figures. Maddie Valentine had a huge game for the home team. The sophomore hit three triples in the game and finished with a game-high 17 points. Senior Kaila Simpson (seven points in the fourth quarter) and sophomore Sydney Pnacek (seven points in the second quarter) each scored 13 in the win.

Brianna Rodriguez had eight points and Kylie Cabana and Shannon Schoch each scored six for the Dreadnaughts. Kyleigh Valentine, Kylee Niswonger and Alayna Babut each scored four points.
