Golf: Dreadnaughts card fourth place at Division 2 Regional

The Dexter golf team had a strong showing on Thursday at the Division 2, Regional 10 at the Eldorado Golf Course in Mason. The Dreadnaughts fired a team score of 373 but finished 10 strokes off third place. The top three teams qualify for the State Finals on Oct. 18-19 at Forest Akers East on the campus of Michigan State University.

Still, one Dreadnaught isn’t done yet. Senior Gabby Napolitan fired an 88 to finish third among individual qualifiers to earn a spot among the best in the state next weekend. Gabby can now pack her (golf) bag for the State Finals.

Pinckney finished first in the team standings with a 357. Mason was second (362) and Fenton third (363) followed by the Dreadnaughts (373). Dexter, East Lansing and St. Johns all carded a 373.

The Dreads were led by Napolitan and her 88. The rest of the Dexter scorecard – featuring an all-senior lineup – included Ellen Barnes (92), Caitlin Kimmel (95), Mackenzie Gordon (98) and Lauren Romine (119).
