Girls Cross Country: Dreads run fourth at highly competitive SEC Jamboree 1

The Pioneer girls’ cross country team ran away from the field – as expected – at the SEC Jamboree 1 at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter on Tuesday. The speedy Pioneers finished with an impressive 25 points as they placed four runners in the top six and all five in the top 11.

Saline was second with 42 points while Tecumseh was third (94), Dexter fourth (170), Skyline fifth (185), Chelsea sixth (192) and Huron seventh (201) in the 13-team field that included SEC teams from both the Red and White divisions.

Pioneer senior Zofia Dudek was a runaway winner, crossing the finish line in 18:05.00. Teammate Sarah Forsyth, only a sophomore, was second in 19:16.35. Pioneer senior Anna Vogel was fifth (20:00.70) and teammate Cookie Baugh, a sophomore, was sixth in 20:01.57. Pioneer sophomore Charlotte Batra was 11th in 20:46.51.

Skyline’s top finisher was junior Laura O’Brien who placed ninth in 20:30.51.
