Hudson Mills Hosting Maple Sugaring Classes Throughout March

It is one of the sweetest times of year and Hudson Mills is once again hosting maple sugaring classes for 5 weekends in March.

It’s almost time for Maple Sugaring Season at your Metroparks. Weeks before the snow melts and the first leaf buds, maple trees begin to shake off their winter dormancy. As winter ends, the cycle of night time freezing temperatures and daytime thawing temperatures triggers the maple’s sap to begin flowing. In Michigan, this usually occurs in late February or early March and continues for just six weeks, on average.

This season visit Hudson Mills Metropark to learn all about Maple Sugaring, from how to tap a tree to how to turn sap into syrup.  There are events, programs and even an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast (for an additional charge).
