Boys Basketball: Dexter bounces back to bounce Adrian

The Dexter boys’ basketball team bounced back on Tuesday night following a couple of tough defeats against Pinckney and Chelsea. The Dreadnaughts used a big third quarter to pull away from Adrian in an impressive 56-43 win over the Maples.

The Dreads led 14-8 after the first quarter and took a 27-20 lead into halftime.

Dexter got rolling at both ends of the floor in the third quarter, outscoring the Maples 17-5 to take a 44-25 lead into the final quarter.

Junior Marco Lucchesi led the way for Dexter with a game-high 17 points. Senior Caden Doll scored all of his 14 points in the first three quarters. Junior Bobby Pnacek had 10 points and junior Ryan Trinkle scored six in the Dexter win.

The Dreadnaughts lost to rival Chelsea on Feb. 14 by a score of 62-55.

Chelsea led 12-9 after the first quarter and 31-21 at halftime. Chelsea outscored Dexter 16-12 in the third quarter. Dexter rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 22-15 but couldn’t come all the way back.

Junior Antwan Ficklen had a nice game with a team-high 13 points. Doll scored 11, Trinkle had eight points and Jake Avery and Colin Parachek each scored seven in the loss.

The Dreads head down I-94 to play at Melvindale at 7 p.m. on Friday.
