St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Receives “A” Grade for Patient Safety

CHELSEA, MI, (April 24, 2018) – Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, which assigns A, B, C, D and F letter grades to hospitals nationally for having the highest safety standards, announced today that St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea received an “A” ranking on its Spring 2018 scorecard.

“This scorecard recognizes our hospital’s commitment to patients and their safety,” said Nancy Graebner, president and CEO of St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea.  “From our administrative leadership to clinicians on the floor, we continue to elevate the standard of care we provide patients through transparency, communication and teamwork.”

St. Joe’s was one of 750 hospitals nationally to be awarded an “A” for preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among its patients.

Developed under the guidance of an expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to approximately 2,500 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
