County Crime Blotter: Steady crime continues in the New Year

A vehicle was stolen overnight from a dealership at the 3500 block of Jackson Rd. on Sunday, Jan. 21. The criminal broke a window to get into the building and grab the keys, then drove off in the still missing car. Authorities have yet to identify a suspect.

Another vehicle crime occurred two days earlier at a business at the 200 block of Metty Dr. at some point during the workday. An employee returned to her car after her shift and found the driver’s side window smashed to bits and her purse gone. There is currently no suspect.

Drugs and alcohol also played a part in last week’s crimes.

A 38-year-old male from Ann Arbor crashed his car into a ditch at Dexter-Ann Arbor Rd. and N. Wagner Rd. on Saturday, Jan. 20, just after 2 p.m. Police were dispatched to the scene to investigate the accident and they found the noticeably intoxicated driver sitting in his car with minor injuries. A field sobriety test confirmed his state and he was taken to the hospital for treatment, where he was released.

A drug violation, allegedly involving crack, occurred last Friday, Jan. 19, at 5:19 p.m., near the area of Jackson Rd. and Luella Ave. As of publish, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s department could not give any further information on this case as the report was not complete. At the 9700 block of Portage Lake Ave., a domestic assault occurred on Sunday, Jan. 21, at midnight. The attacker, a 27-year-old male from Pinckney, was not arrested and the victim did not sustain any injuries.
