County Crime Blotter: Crime in Dexter Slows Week After Thanksgiving

Crime in Dexter and Scio Township lessened, in comparison to the rest of November, during the week following Thanksgiving. Between both areas, two larceny crimes and two DUI charges were reported.

The first incident of theft occurred last Tuesday, Nov. 28, at the 4300 block of W. Liberty Rd. Around 4:15 p.m. that afternoon, the victim answered his door to two men who said they came by to work on the property. However, these crooks actually stopped by to rob his house. The homeowner stated that one of the two suspects distracted him, while the other pushed past him into the house and took money and jewelry. These two males have not been identified and the case is still under investigation.

A second act of larceny occurred at the 3200 block of Fieldstone Dr. on Wednesday, Nov. 29. Overnight, the perpetrator stole the homeowner’s Christmas laser light projector from the front yard. As of publish, no suspect had been named.

The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s department responded to a traffic crash at the intersection of Jackson Road and S. Zeeb Road on Tuesday, Nov. 28, around 3:15 p.m. Upon speaking with both drivers, authorities noted one of the two appeared intoxicated. The driver, a 59-year-old male from Ann Arbor, admitted to drinking and this was confirmed with a field sobriety test. He was arrested. Luckily, no injuries resulted from the crash.

In the second DUI case last week, police responded to traffic stop at WB I-94 and Liberty Road, just before 1 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3.
