Soccer: Undefeated Dreadnaughts open Districts Wednesday

The Dexter soccer team heads into the state playoffs as the No. 2 ranked team in the state in Division 2 and picked up a bye in the first round of District play this week.

Dexter ended its regular season with a 19-0-0 overall record, a 12-0-0 record in the SEC White Division and a league championship. They posted 17 shutouts in 19 games and never allowed a goal in SEC matches.

The Dreads come into the postseason off an impressive 2-0 “tune-up” win over Saline, ranked 11th in the state in Division 1.

Dexter will play at the winner of the Chelsea-Adrian match from Monday at the winner’s site on Wednesday.

The other half of the bracket has Tecumseh playing Milan and Lincoln playing South Lyon East in Monday’s first round matches. The winners of those two games play on Wednesday.

The finals of District 20 are at noon on Saturday at Tecumseh.
