If you live in Dexter and would like to try to influence how the local government is run with your ideas or you just want to serve your community through hours upon hours of grueling mental work deliberating on all matters of city government, you have until Tuesday afternoon to toss your hat into the ring.
There are three city council seats and the mayor’s post up for grabs during this year’s November 7 general election.
In order to qualify:
— A candidate must be a registered elector residing within the boundaries of the City of Dexter for a minimum of one year prior to the date of the Election; and
— Submit an Affidavit of Identity and City/Township Nonpartisan Nominating Petition bearing the signatures of a minimum of 15 (maximum of 30) qualified electors residing within the boundaries of the City of Dexter.
