Dexter UMC’s Maker Fun Factory VBS starts June 19!

Maker Fun Factory, an enthusiastic Vacation Bible School starting Monday, June 19 at Dexter United Methodist Church, promises children ages 4 through sixth grade plenty of uplifting activities, education, healthy snacks, rousing music, fun and new friends. “We welcome all children to the Maker Fun Factory,” says Denise Kasischke, pastor of DUMC’s family ministries. Maker Fun Factory will be offered from 9 a.m. until noon Monday through Friday at the church, 7643 Huron River Drive in Dexter. Online pre-registration is encouraged ($35 per child; $60 per family) and is accessible by clicking here or on the Maker Fun Factory logos in this article.
“We encourage preregistration because we place the children in small groups, but walk-in registrations are accepted. Just come, we’ll be happy they’re there,” Kasischke adds.
“We’re so excited about the theme because it is fun and active. The children get to make things, which I think will appeal to boys and girls. We’re looking to help the children understand God’s plan through “Maker Fun Factory – Created by God. Built for a Purpose,” she says.
Children will be placed in age groups: Age 4 through those starting kindergarten in the fall will be in a Tinker Tots Preschool; Children in grades 1-5 will be another group; Youth in grade 6 also will be involved in doing some service projects in the community.
Many of the youth at DUMC, grades 7-12, will be crew leaders and volunteers for the Vacation Bible School, as are many adults who attend the church. Robin Woodard, DUMC choir director, is coordinating this year’s Vacation Bible School. Vacation Bible School logo Maker Fun Factory
Each day children will start the day together with “Sound Wave Sing and Play,” then will move into their small groups (five children with one teen or adult crew leader). Children will rotate a series of activities — KidVid Cinema, Game Makers, Imagination Station, Bible Discovery, and the Snack Factory (children create their own snacks)!
The day will end with collective a FunShop Finale.
Dexter United Methodist typically offers Vacation Bible School in August, but moved it up this year because of a large construction project to add a large multi-purpose room and renovate parts of the existing church this summer.
