Track: Dreads girls, boys take pair at Lincoln tri-meet

The Dexter boys and girls track teams headed to Lincoln on Tuesday (May 3) for a tri-meet with the Railsplitters and Tecumseh. Both Dexter teams returned with a pair of victories.

The boys beat Tecumseh 75-62 and Lincoln 103-34.

The girls beat Tecumseh 88-40 and Lincoln 101-27.

“The weather played a huge factor, with high wind gusts, wind chills in the mid 30’s,” said Dexter Coach Kirk Keebler. “It wasn’t a meet so much about fast times, and far throws, but more who could gut out tough performances. Both are teams did just that, with the Dexter kids just wanting to win more than the competition.”

The Dexter coaching staff was “extremely proud” of how their athletes gutted it out.

With the girls, there is a three-way tie for first with Dexter, Adrian and Tecumseh. All have one loss in the dual-meet season heading into next week’s SEC championship at Ypsilanti.

The boys are 3-2 going into SEC’s.
