The Dexter track and field teams hosted Adrian on Tuesday at Al Ritt and earned a split with the Maples. The boys’ team lost 76-61 while the girls posted an 80-57 win over Adrian.
“The boys were kind of expected to get blown out, but actually put together some gritty performances on the track to give Adrian a run for the money,” said Dexter Coach Kirk Keebler. “On paper, they were looking to lose by more than 30, so the 16 points was much closer than expected. Multiple personal bests were had by many of the athletes, but a couple of key events for Adrian made the difference for the boys.”
The girls’ strength was dominating the field events.
The Dreads swept the pole vault, discus, shot put and high jump which totaled 36 points. The girls also had multiple personal best all around.
