Girls Track: Dreads fall to Chelsea despite strong finishes

The Dexter girls’ track & field team headed to Chelsea for a league match on Tuesday with the Bulldogs. Despite a 75-62 loss, the Dreads put up some impressive performances against their league rival.

The track full of strong efforts were turned in by:

Senior Alyssa Enciso: Won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.57; second in the 200m dash with a time of 28.32.

Sophomore Nicole Bowe: Won the long jump with a jump of 15’5″; won the pole valut with a jump of 11’6″; and second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 17.18.

Junior Popi Vorias: Second in the shot put with a throw of 30’6″; second in the discus with a throw of 99’7″ (personal best); and second in the pole vault with a jump of 10’6″.

Junior Dani Waidley: Won the 3200m run with a time of 11:50.1.

Senior Lindsay Hayter: Third in the pole vault (10-6) to help the Dreads sweep the event.

Dexter went one-three in the high jump. Senior Caroline Shoopman won with a jump of 5’2″, and junior Amy Larkin (11th) was third (4’8″).

The 4×100 relay team of Bow, Sydney Korte, Madison Wright and Enciso won in 53.89.

Dexter hosts the April Showers Relays at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
