Swimming: Dreads youth shine at freshman-sophomore meet

Dexter hosted the annual Freshman-Sophomore meet on Saturday, Jan. 21 with Salem, Canton, Pinckney, Skyline and Milan joining the Dreadnaughts on the pool deck. Team scores were not kept for the six-team event.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the Dexter team of Casey Dolen, Niklas Eberly, Nathan Norris and Henry Gaetino – all sophomores – touched second with a time of 1:42.22.

In the 200 free, Dexter freshman Luke Sayler was fifth (1:58.63) and sophomore Nick Hoang was ninth (2:09.36).

Dolen grabbed first place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.07. Norris was fifth in 2:13.66 for the Dreads.

In the 50 free, Gaetino was fourth in 24.06 while freshman Paul Schaefer was seventh in 25.34.

Dexter freshman Kevin Flaherty was second in diving with a score of 150.75 points.

Eberly touched first in the butterfly with a time of 51.40.

Freshman Tanner Sharp was fourth in 54.18 in the 100 free with Gaetino eighth (56.03) and Sayler 10th (56.10).
Dolen was third in the 500 free in 5:06.09.

Dexter’s 200 free relay team of Gaetino, Sayler, Schaefer and Aiden Anderson was third in 1:38.79.

Eberly took his second first place when he won the backstroke with a time of 53.94. Sharp finished third in 1:04.14.

Norris placed third in the breaststroke with a time of 1:06.37. Schaefer was 10th in 1:11.34 and Anderson 11th in 1:12.02.

Dexter finished the meet strong as the team of Dolen, Sayler, Sharp and Eberly took second in the 400 free relay in 3:28.13.
