Soccer: Dreadnaughts serve up 8-0 win over Ypsilanti

Dexter cooked up a meal on an overcast and rainy day.

Alex Doletzky continued to be the chef for the Dreads as he served up passes to Danial Higgins and Jaylen Bonilla for two goals 12 minutes into the match. Minutes later Higgins took an Austin Graham through ball to make it 3-0.

With 12 left in the half, Graham then dished a ball to Anton Hein. Graham scored the next two goals assisted by Cole Harreld and Andy Dolan. Higgins then scored his third, for the hat trick, with 1:03 left in the half.

“Ypsi is a much improved team from the first time we played them,” said Dexter Coach Scott Forrester. “Their coach has many challenges, moving their program forward, but does well with it and has her players working hard.”

Sure enough, the Grizzlies created a couple of solid scoring chances in the game and held the Dreads off the board more than 10 minutes into the second half.

Cole Harreld finished the game with his goal, ending the game with 29:40 on the clock. Keepers Cameron Pickard and Max Harreld shared the shutout, Dexter’s eighth of the season.

“It could be argued that Graham was your chef with his two assists and two goals,” said Forrester.

Dexter is now 13-4-1 (6-2-0 SEC White) on the season and face Chelsea in their rivalry match on Thursday.
