The JV Maroon Soccer team hit the ground running on Tuesday at their home game against Ann Arbor Huron.
According to newly hired DHS JV soccer coach Jamie Lewis, “[The team] played smart; forcing Huron to chase.” The game ended 5-1, Dexter. The team has worked hard this season and is focused on improvement by using each game as a learning opportunity. The fourteen man roster creates for tight planning and lots of game time for each player.
Playing Chelsea in Chelsea on Thursday proved to be a challengin match requiring mental toughness and follow-through. The team improved throughout the game, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Bulldogs. Though the game ended 0-3, Chelsea, it’s clear the JV Maroon team has talent and plenty of heart.
A week of on-field ups and downs ended with Dexter’s homecoming parade on Friday. The JV Maroon team joined two other full floats of DHS soccer players. With a total roster of 50 players, Dreadnaught soccer is bursting at the seams.
The JV Maroon team’s next game will be Monday, September 27th, in Auburn Hills. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. at Avondale High School, 2800 Waukegan St. Auburn Hills, MI.
