Girls’ Cross Country Does Well In Brighton

The Dexter girls cross country team had a great day at the Saline Hornet Early Bird Blue Varsity race on Friday, September 1. They ran on the Huron Meadows Metropark 5.000 meter course in Brighton, MI. It was a day for personal records: every girl on the team ran either a personal best (PR) or season best (SR) time, and sixteen girls medaled in the varsity race.

Star runner, and junior, Dani Waidley finished second overall. While it is expected that freshmen will have multiple PRs over the first few weeks of their first high school running season, it is not expected for them to place second on the team and finish 12th overall as Jaquelynn Terbush did. Senior Lindsey Hayter (15th) and sophomore Anna Varitek (19th) also ran strong, finishing in the top twenty out of 152 runners. Gigi Eisele, a senior, rounded off the top five from the team with her own PR. She was followed closely by teammates Abby McLean and Julia Bell.
