Baseball: Dreads take two of three from Tecumseh

The Dexter baseball team played a triple header over a few days with Tecumseh and the Dreadnaughts came out with a 2-1 series win.

On Monday, the two teams split a doubleheader at Dexter.

Micah Berlage went all seven innings, scattered three hits and struck out six in a 1-0 win for the Dreads.

Seth Jaimez had a hit and a walk. Stewie Weber had two walks for Dexter.

In the opener, Dexter fall 7-3 as the visitors jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings. Dexter cut the lead to 4-3 with a third-run third inning. The Indians put the game away with three runs in the top of the seventh.

Jaimez went 6.1 innings and took the loss despite an amazing 14 strikeouts.

Cam Milne led the Dexter offense with two hits and an RBI.

On Wednesday, Dexter scored three in the third, one in the fifth and three more in the seventh to score an impressive 7-0 win.

What was even more impressive was the performance of Nick Winston. The Dexter pitcher went seven innings and recorded five strikeouts while allowing just two hits.

On the offensive side, Weber and Ryan Flattery each had three hits for Dexter. Grant Katcher drove in three runs.

Last week, Dexter defeated Adrian 4-0 as Winston went six innings for the shutout. Weber and Joey Hiser each had two hits to lead the offense. Michael Bradshaw had two RBI.
