(SOLVED) Amber Alert: WCSO Looking For Suspect In Missing Hamburg Child Case

Cell phones across Dexter lit up for an amber alert, Thursday, March 12. According to the Hamburg Township Police Department, 7-year-old Sapphire Palmer was abducted two days ago.

Palmer and her mother have since been found safe in Florida.


Palmer was last seen the morning of Tuesday, according to the Monroe News. She was last seen on Bishop Lake Road at 7:23 a.m.It is believed that was taken by her mother, Amanda Hayward, who is not mentally sound.

According to amberalertmichigan.org, “Amanda Hayward is suffering from an apparent mental episode. She is delusional and may be armed with a 9mm Hi Point Semi-Auto handgun.”

They are believed to be in the company of registered sex offender Douglas Stanko. The 169 pound, 64-year-old man is 5 foot 8, with long black hair and brown eyes.


The FBI has joined local police in the disappearance of the girl from the Brighton area.

Hayward’s 2001 red Ford Escape was found abandoned in Ypsilanti Township.

Anyone with any information regarding the missing girl should call 911 immediately.
