Girls Basketball: Dreadnaughts keep on rolling

The Dexter girls’ basketball team rolled into 2016 with a pair of wins including an SEC White Division victory over host Lincoln on Jan. 8.

The Dreads quickly established dominance with a 20-8 first-quarter lead. Dexter led 44-18 at halftime and everyone got plenty of playing time.

The Dreadnaughts finished with eight three pointers and cruised to a 70-24 win.

Amanda Fileccia (six rebounds, four triples) and Sammi Corcoran each scored 14 points to lead the Dreads. Cayla Schlaff had 10 points, Hannah Wing had eight points and Taylor Olson scored six.
On Jan. 5, the Dreads were tied with Plymouth 17-17 in the second quarter before pulling away in a 41-28 win over the Rocks.

Dexter led 23-18 at halftime and 35-26 after three.

Olson scored 11 of her team-high 13 points in the first half. Anna Love had nine points and three boards and Wing had six points and four rebounds.

Shelbea James had five points and four rebounds, Schlaff had four points and Fileccia had six rebounds.
