The Dexter branch of the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office has been kept reasonably busy in the week around Christmas.
Residents on the 100 block of Orange Blossom were woken up by their own car alarm at 2:10 in the morning, December 23rd. They came down to their car, which was parked in the drive way. The victim found 3 unidentified males, who were fled immediately. There are no suspects in this case, as it was too dark for the victim to be able to identify anyone. The suspects did not manage to get into the car and nothing was stolen.
In the same neighborhood, someone slashed the tires of 3 cars overnight on the 26th. Deputies have no suspects in this case either.
Deputies are investigating a robbery on the 200 block of Baker Road. They were called at 11:20 a.m. on the 26th. Sgt. Geoff Fox said someone broke into the Popeye’s, made their way to the office safe and broke into it. Deputies are currently working with Popeye’s to secure security camera footage.
Deputies responded to an assault on the 7900 block of Grand Street, December 27th, at 3:28 a.m. Because this is a case of domestic violence, deputies would make no comment other than there has been no arrest made.
A 68 year old woman from Denver, Colorado, was pulled over December 27th for driving without her headlights on at 9:51 p.m. This was at the corner of North Territorial and Scully Roads. After making contact with her, deputies suspected her of drinking. She failed the field sobriety test and was taken to the Washtenaw County Jail. Deputies are awaiting toxicology results from a blood draw.
