The Dexter branch of the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office dealt with a number of crimes over the course of the last week.
Deputies are investigating the theft of a 16 foot long, 2 axle, open trailer. This was stolen from the 8100 block of Jackson Road, some time overnight and was reported at 5:30 p.m. on the 10th. There were no cameras in the area. Deputies said they would be registering the serial numbers as stolen.
Sheriff deputies were called to the 100 block of Baker road, Tuesday, at 7:30 p.m. for a domestic assault. Deputies wouldn’t make any further comment other than there was an arrest.
An MP3 player was stolen from a car on the 300 block of Metty Drive, on the 13th. The victim says they left it in their car, and sometime between noon and 4:00 p.m. the device was stolen. Deputies said there was no “obvious damage” to the car, when they were called at 4:28 p.m.
There was another break in to a car, in Dexter proper. This was on the 7400 block of Lake Street. The victim left their wallet in their car, which was left unlocked on the street. When the victim came back to the car at 7:15 p.m. the wallet was gone.
Deputies pulled over a car near the corner of Island Lake Road and Fieldstone Drive, at 2:02 a.m. on the 15th, for a traffic violation. The 23 year old Dexter man then failed a field sobriety test. He was taken to the Washtenaw County Jail, where a blood sample was drawn. The deputies are waiting toxicology reports from the state police.
A 57 year old Ypsilanti man crashed his car near the corner of North Territorial and Eagle Point Drive, at 4:57 p.m. on the 16th. Deputies responded and he failed the field sobriety test. After being arrested, the man was taken to the jail, were he also failed a breathalyzer test. No other vehicles were involved in the initial crash.
