Girls’ cross country: Dreads run sixth in Division 1 regional

The Dexter girls’ cross country team finished sixth overall at the Division 1 Girls’ Cross Country Regional on Saturday at Huron Meadows Metropark. Brighton ran away with the title taking first with just 45 points while Ann Arbor Pioneer was second with 71 and Pinckney third with 78.

The top three teams and top 25 individuals qualify for the state meet on Nov. 7 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.

Two runners for Dexter will head to MIS after finishing among the top 25 runners. Sophomore Danielle Waidley was 15th overall with a time of 19:09.10 and senior Alison McLean was 25th overall with a time of 19:47.87.

Also running strong for Dexter were Megyn Scafasci (43rd, 20:19.66), Lindsey Hayter (46th, 20:28.33), Jordan McGinnis (47th, 20:28.64), Abby McLean (65th, 21:16.42) and Julia Bell (68th, 21:22.0).
