Recap: Baker Rd Intersections Public Meeting

On Wednesday, October 14th, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) and the City of Dexter, in cooperation with Dexter Community Schools and Scio Township, held a public information meeting to evaluate options to improve the Baker Road intersections at Shield Road and Dan Hoey Road in the City of Dexter.

During this meeting the project consultant, OHM Advisors, presented the various intersection alternatives, answered questions and gathered public input. The input gathered will help WCRC and the City of Dexter shortlist three alternatives to evaluate in further detail. Ultimately, a preferred intersection option will be selected by WCRC and the City of Dexter and both entities will work together to identify and secure funding.

Due to the high interest and attendance at this public meeting, WCRC is posting the various intersection alternatives and short descriptions for those who were not able to attend. Unfortunately, the public comment period to weigh in on these intersection alternatives has ended and we will no longer be accepting public input on the design options. However, WCRC and the City of Dexter will host another public meeting in 2016 or 2017 to inform the public about the selected intersection design and project timeline.

You can view images and a short description of the intersection design options, as well as a realignment option that involves both intersections, on the WCRC website here:

  • The by-line says this was to be about a recap, but where is it. Lots of people attended, but there is no discussion of what was the feedback, questions or concerns. Useless article!
