Football: Dreadnaughts fall to talented Ypsilanti

The Dexter football team ran into a talented Ypsilanti team on Friday night, falling behind 14-0 in the first quarter and never recovering in a 50-0 loss.

Ypsilanti led 26-0 at halftime and then scored 24 unanswered points in the third quarter. Ypsilanti finished with 458 yards of total offense compared to 100 for the Dreadnaughts. Dexter had two turnovers in the game (both interceptions) and failed on all 12 third-down attempts.

Ypsilanti scored four touchdowns on plays of more than 36 yards from scrimmage. The first came on a 59-yard run in the first quarter. They went up 26-0 on a 55-yard pass play and took a 34-0 lead on a 43-yard run. The home team took a 42-0 lead on a 36-yard run.

Ethan Stairs led Dexter’s offense with 83 yards rushing on 21 attempts. Joey Hiser had two catches for 19 yards for the Dreads.

On defense, Will Feldkamp had 8.5 tackles and Brian Kramer had six tackles.
