SRSLY Cinema brings Outdoor Movies to Dexter

SRSLY Dexter is gearing up for its first FREE, family-friendly outdoor movie series, SRSLY Cinema. Community members completed a survey to choose the movies that will be shown once a month in June, July, and August in Mill Creek Park.

SRSLY Cinema begins at dusk on Friday, June 19th with “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb”. “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters” will be shown on Friday, July 17th and “Mr. Peabody and Sherman” will debut on Friday, August 14 during Dexter Daze.

SRSLY Dexter is currently seeking sponsorships for this year’s event. Businesses, clubs, families and neighborhoods can sponsor a movie in Dexter for $162.50, $325, or $650. Sponsor logos will be displayed on screen during previews before the movies every month and all sponsors will be listed on the coalition’s website. These donations will cover the cost of equipment and licensing fees associated with the outdoor movies. Interested sponsors can contact Stephanie Jacques, SRSLY Dexter Program Coordinator at 734-593-6974 or email at .

SRSLY Cinema also needs plenty of adult volunteers throughout the summer, to make sure everyone has fun in a safe way. Adults who are willing to chaperone at SRSLY Cinema should also call Stephanie or sign up HERE. Youth will run a popcorn and refreshments stand as a fundraiser, and moviegoers are asked to donate $1 to support the project.
