Athletic Booster Club of Dexter Trivia Night Fundraiser this Friday

ABCD raises money to fund the various sports programs that function with the school district.

Those who love both trivia nights and local athletics can enjoy twice the bang for their buck at the Athletic Booster Club of Dexter’s Trivia Night this Friday, April 24.

The ABCD club sponsored event will begin at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, at 8265 Dexter-Chelsea Road.

Groups of eight to 10 friends are encouraged to come as a team to collectively field questions from a range of topics including sports, entertainment and even local lore. Each participant is asked to purchase a $20 ticket to play, which will raise funds to sponsor local athletics. Attendees are asked for bring their own food and beverages, including adult beverages.

ABCD has granted significant amounts of money to the Dexter Community Schools athletic program, including $25,000 to help build a new weight room, $10,000 for an electronic swim board, $8,500 for a tennis hitting wall and dozens of other grants for facilities, equipment and programs.

Between concession funds earned by teams to purchase needed items, to items granted to coaches for Wish List requests, to large items purchased on behalf of all sports, ABCD has contributed over $400,000 to help our sports programs and our student/athletes in the last 11 years.

“With the ever tightening school budgets, ABCD funds have become even more valuable and have had to be made available for essential items only – with some of the ‘nice to have’ requests and events of the past, such as the Champions Breakfast for senior athletes, no longer being funded,” said ABCD volunteer Linda Wood.

All of this has been made possible by the many, many dedicated parents of our student athletes who have donated countless hours to ABCD and also to our wonderful Dexter community of businesses and residents who have been so generous in their support of our fundraising efforts – from Trivia Nights, to Barn Blasts and the thousands of dollars of donated items over the years.
