St. Andrews to have Veteran’s Day service Sunday, Nov. 9

St. Andrew’s United Church of Christ will hold a special Veteran’s Day Service on November 9, 2014 at 10:00 AM. This is a meaningful service to honor those men and women who served their country and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. St. Andrew’s is located at 7610 Ann Arbor Street in Dexter and this service is open to all who wish to attend.

Paul Schwimmer will be the guest speaker for the service. Paul has participated in the BentProp Project, a national team that locates the bodies of America soldiers who died in the South Pacific during World War II. Paul is a volunteer who gives of his time to research estimated location of soldiers who have been lost. If the bodies are found, the information is passed on to the federal government, which is responsible for bringing back those bodies to the USA. “Nobody should give their life up for their country and not be able to be buried on American soil,” Schwimmer said. “They deserve to come home.”

The service will also recognize the branches of armed services, feature patriotic music selections, a special remembrance of the MIA’s, and conclude with a 21 gun salute and taps.
