We Love Democracy — get out and vote Dexter!

Paul Cousins and Shawn Keough, candidates for the position of Dexter Village President (Keough is the incumbent), discuss how the election is going earlier in the day, as well as the issue of cityhood.

Today village residents will vote whether or not to ratify Dexter city charter that was approved by the governor last June. It is highly recommended that folks look over the charter before voting.

In addition to Cousins and Keough running for village president, and the election of the charter, incumbents Jim Carson, Donna Fisher, Ray Tell and former Village Council Trustee Jim Smith are vying for three open council seats.

There’s still time to get to the polls and vote for local candidates and ballot measures. Remember — great communities don’t just happen. They’re built and maintained by many local volunteers who step into positions of leadership like those who serve on the village council.
