Dexter High School Marching Band Earns Top Honors at District Marching Band Festival

The Dexter High School Marching Band received top honors Monday, October 6 at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association’s District 12 Marching Band Festival held at Westland John Glenn High School. Participating bands receive ratings from three judges in the areas of marching, musicianship, and showmanship. Dexter’s 195-member Dreadnaught Band received a first Division rating, the highest offered, for their show “Heroes,” featuring theme songs from Spiderman, Superman, The Incredibles, James Bond movies Goldfinger and For Your Eyes Only, and Rocky.

The continued success of Dexter High School’s Dreadnaught Marching Band is the result of dedicated students, teachers, parents, administrators, and community members. “I continue to be very proud of the accomplishments of the Dreadnaught Marching Band,” said director of bands Kenneth Moore. “It is an honor to work with such an outstanding group of young people!”

The band performed their “Heroes” for the final time on Friday, October 10 and will end the season with a special Halloween and Senior show at the last home game Friday, October 24.
