Wrestling: Short-handed Dreads flex muscles

The Dexter wrestling team continues to put up impressive numbers despite one number that is below average – total number of wrestlers. The Dreadnaughts won’t win many team matches because of too many voids but that hasn’t stopped the locals from pinning down some solid wins.

The Dreadnaughts have only about 13 wrestlers and a few have been battling injuries and a couple are locked in at the same weight.

Dexter hosted Adrian and Bedford on Wednesday and lost both matches. The Dreads lost to Adrian 48-36 and to Bedford 69-12.

Will Feldkamp. 189

Against Adrian, Dexter got wins from Griffin Hader (112 pounds), Ryan Clements (119), Matthew Bellas (125), Kyle Burton (152) and Tyler Even at 189.

Against Bedford, Clements and Even both won.

On Dec. 9, the Dreads lost 37-37 to Lincoln on a tiebreaker and 39-33 to Pioneer.

Against Lincoln, Hader, Bellas, Jason Milkey (135), Trent Barnes (145) and Will Feldkamp (189) all won on pins. Adam Burton won on a decision at 160.

Clements, Kyle Burton and Feldkamp all won against the Pioneers.
