Whit’s End Hair Studio announced today that they are moving one door over from their current location at 8118 Main Street to 8122 Main, which had previously housed The Home Store before that business moved with Nichols and Stafford into the renovated former location of Huron Camera at 8160 Main.
This move now fills both spaces left vacant by the creation of 3bird in Milt Campbell’s former camera shop space, after the Dexter Creamery was announced as being in the works at 8106 last August by city officials in reports to the Dexter City Council.
Owner Whitney Shoemaker and new partner Kim Hutenga announced the move on Facebook earlier today, which can be seen below in the embedded Facebook video.
Whitney opened the salon in 2012 with her husband Michael. Hutenga recently joined the business in her capacity last month. The Shoemakers are from West Branch and had been working in the hair salon industry for a decade before deciding on Dexter after engaging in an extensive search for the best location that had a concentration of urban population and development around it with easy access to the I-94 corridor.
“We are going to be launching probably in a little over a month,” Whitney said. “We’re just so excited. We have two levels — downstairs is going to be spa, (manicures), (pedicures), waxing, and massage. Upstairs is going to be the hair. We’re going to keep the vibe that we have at our current location and just really grow off of that.”
