The Portage Lake Trading Post was burglarized somewhere in the early morning hours of October 15. Deputies responded to the service call originating in the 9200 block of McGregor road, where a substantial amount of cigarettes and alcohol were stolen. Deputies have no suspects as of publish of this report.
A minor was found to be in possession of marijuana in the 2200 block of North Parker Road at 1 p.m. on October 16. Because the suspect is a minor, the sheriff’s office would not make any further comment.
Deputies were alerted to a threat made by phone, at a location within the 5800 block of Jackson Road, on October 16. Deputies traced the call, which occurred at around 4 p.m. The call was placed by an acquaintance of the victim, who immediately contacted the authorities. Investigating deputies determined that nothing criminal had yet occurred and closed the case.
A Dexter city resident reported an act of vandalism, which reportedly occurred on October 17. At 10:52 a.m. the owner found both broken tail lights of their car were broken on the 3600 block of View Drive. Police have no suspects as of yet.
A 49-year-old Ypsilanti man was pulled over for crossing the center line several times and driving with broken tail lights, at 12:32 a.m. on October 18, near the intersection of Parker and Grand. This was the second time he failed the field sobriety test. Deputies say he was taken to the county jail and his blood alcohol level was found to be over the legal limit. Blood work has been sent to the Michigan state police for analysis and they will be submitting their findings to the prosecutor.
At 4 a.m. on October 18, deputies found a car that had driven off the road near the intersection of Bell and Dexter-Pinckney Road. The 31 year old Grass Lake resident was intoxicated and arrested for operating while under the influence. Deputies also found marijuana in the car. He was taken to the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea hospital. They are awaiting blood work that has been sent to the Michigan State Police for analysis.
