The Dexter volleyball team hosted its annual Senior Night and the Dreads provided a happy regular-season sendoff with a clean sweep of visiting Blissfield on Thursday night. Dexter won 25-17, 25-16, 25-16 as they head into District action on Tuesday.
“This group of seniors have been the leaders of our team and our program,” said Dexter Coach D’Ann Dunn. “We appreciate all the help from our parents, Mill Creek 7th and 8th grade teams, and volleyball campers that made it a special celebration for our four leaders. Thank you all for the support and encouragement throughout this season.”
The Dreads were led by their four seniors: Mary Gallagher with 9 kills and 7 blocks; Madison DeLacy with 8 kills and 8 defensive digs; Hannah Bohn with 6 kills and 0 hitting errors – hitting .462 percent; and Sophie Kurcz with 27 assists and 6 digs.
The Dexter varsity will play in the Chelsea Tournament on Saturday before hosting the District Tournament starting on Tuesday. Saline plays Pinckney at 5:30 p.m. followed by Dexter vs. Huron at 7 p.m.
The winners will play on Thursday against Skyline and Pioneer followed by the championship match at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5.
