Volleyball: Dreadnaughts sweep their way through SEC meet

The Dexter volleyball team dominated the SEC White Jamboree on Monday, winning all six matches, including a victory over rival Chelsea.

The Dreadnaughts opened with a 25-26, 25-15 win over Pinckney. They were led by Taylor Venuto with 11 kills, Karli Deutscher with 4 kills and Brooklyn Brown with 4 kills.

Next, they toppled Adrian 25-16, 25-15. They were led by Brown with 4 service aces and 4 kills and Venuto with 6 kills.

Dexter dropped Tecumseh 25-14, 25-8 as Alexa Bell had 3 service aces, Venuto delivered 7 kills and Elizabeth Gallagher had 3 kills.

The Dreads topped Lincoln 25-22, 25-17 as Bell had 3 service aces and 3 kills and Deutscher had 4 kills and 2 blocks.

Dexter then faced Chelsea and the Dreads delivered a 20-25, 25-17, 15-12 victory over the Bulldogs. They were led by Venuto with 13 kills, Deutscher with 4 service aces and 4 kills and Brown with 4 kills.

Dexter wrapped up the event with a 25-5, 25-9 win over Ypsilanti. The Dreads were led by Jessica Stout with 6 service aces. Quinn LaFontaine, Venuto, Gallagher and Deutscher each contributed 2 kills.

Dexter is now 11-3 on the young season and host Bishop Foley at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7. Dexter hosts a tournament on Sept. 9.
