Volleyball: Dexter solid at Saline Invite (with video, photos)

The Dexter volleyball team headed to Saline on Saturday and competed well against an impressive field of teams throughout the area – and beyond.

The young Dreads opened pool play with a 25-15, 25-9 sweep over Livonia Stevenson. Hannah Bohn had three service aces; Mary Gallagher had five aces and Shelby Spuller and Grace Wilson each had three kills for the Dreads.

Dexter then split with a very good Farmington Mercy team, 25-22, 15-25.

Senior setter Amanda Fileccia had two aces, two kills and nine assists; Spuller had six kills; Gallagher had three kills and sophomore Alexa Bell had two kills.

Dexter then bounced Regina 25-21, 25-19. Gallagher had 10 kills and Spuller eight kills. Freshman Taylor Venuto had three kills.

The Dreads long and successful day ended in the quarterfinals to Brighton, 21-25, 15-25. Jaime Becker had five service aces and Spuller and Gallagher each had five kills.

Dexter heads to Chelsea on Tuesday for the SEC Jamboree. Action begins at 1 p.m.
