Swimming: Dexter tops Chelsea for Coach McHugh’s 100th win

The Dexter boys’ swimming and diving team knocked off rival Chelsea 109.5-76.5 on Friday as Coach Mike McHugh picked up his 100th career dual-meet victory as coach of the Dreadnaughts.

Dexter has gone 6-0 over the past two weeks with wins over Pioneer, Monroe, Seaholm, De La Salle, Tecumseh and Chelsea.

In the meet against Chelsea, the Dexter foursome of Alex Shehab, Sam Krahn, Alex Janosi and Niklas Eberly got things going with a win in the medley relay with a time of 1:39.51.

Dexter went one-two-three in the 200 free with Wil Blodgett taking first (1:47.7), Andrew Golin taking second (1:48.44) and Casey Dolen in third (1:49.79).

Janosi won the IM in 2:05.74 and Eberly won the butterfly in 52.12.

The Dreads took the top three spots in the 500 free with Janosi in first (4:49.11), Golin in second (4:55.52) and Sam Latshaw in third (5:33.3).

Dexter went one-two in both the backstroke with Shehab in first (52.86) and Eberly in second (55.22) and the breaststroke with Mitchell Houghtaling in first (1:03.4) and Krahn in second (1:03.62).

The Dreads won the 400 free relay with the team of Janosi, Dolen, Blodgett and Eberly touching first in 3:21.93.
