St. Andrew’s United Church of Christ has always gone out of its way to honor those who keep the American public safe both abroad and at home with special services that are moving and relevant to the times in which we live.
St. Andrew’s will host a special Veterans Day Worship Service on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 beginning at 7 p.m. This service is open to all. St. Andrew’s is located at 7610 Ann Arbor Street in Dexter.
The featured speaker for this service is Father Don Davidson, Colonel, Retired Army Chaplain, and Priest of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Father Davidson’s duty as a Chaplain was with the Kansas National Guard and he was in charge of chaplain duties with both the Army and Air National Guard. His service was in Bosnia.
Also participating in the service will be St. Andrew’s Pastor, Rev. Grant Speece, Lieutenant and Retired Army Chaplain from the Minnesota National Guard. Rev. Speece’s service was in Desert Storm, Bosnia and Iraqi Freedom.
A part of the will include the recognition and tribute to all branches of the military. Following the service, a reception will be held in the church’s Fellowship Hall with refreshments prepared and served by the wives and mother of military service members.
