SRSLY Excited to Announce Halloween Party for Dexter Community

SRSLY students have been planning for months and are excited to announce their first annual Halloween Party this year. The goal of this event is to provide a free, fun and safe environment in which students in grades 5 and older and their parents, can celebrate together. The Halloween Party will take place on Saturday, October 28th from 6:00-8:30 pm at Mill Creek Middle School.

SRSLY’S Halloween Party features a $5 Zombie-Themed Escape Room, a Costume Contest that will begin at 7:30 p.m., and free games, activities, and snacks in the cafeteria. For more information regarding the costume contest and escape room, please check out the FAQ’s here: http://www.srslydexter.org/2017/10/18/srsly-excited-for-our-halloween-party/.

Below are some of the other fun activities that will take place for partygoers:

• Caramel Apple Station
• Pumpkin Decorating
• Photo Booth
• Board Games
• Minute to Win It Games
• Pumpkin Bowling
• Door Prizes and more

In order to ensure the event runs smoothly, SRSLY is in need of volunteers who can help out in a variety of roles. Volunteers are needed for event set-up and tear-down, registration for both the event and the two escape rooms, and supervising activity stations and escape rooms. Volunteers are also needed to be zombies for both escape rooms. Please select a volunteer position with a time slot that works best for you using the following link: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/508044fada82da0f58-halloween.

Community support of the SRSLY Halloween Party is vital to this event’s success. Donations of supplies, refreshments, prizes or cash are all appreciated. If you would like to donate to the SRSLY Halloween Party, please call Stephanie Mayweather at (734) 593-5974, or email at Stephanie.Mayweather@stjoeshealth.org. Sponsors’ links will be listed in SRSLY email communications and on SRSLY’s website. During the event, sponsors will be celebrated on a large “thank you” banner and included in announcements.

With continued support from the community, SRSLY hopes to make this type of fun family event a holiday tradition in Dexter. If there are any questions related to the event, volunteer positions, or sponsorship, please email info@srslydexter.org.

About SRSLY

SRSLY is a community coalition dedicated to the prevention of destructive behavior in youth. SRSLY’s mission is to empower youth to live healthy, substance-free lives by bringing the community together. SRSLY was formed in 2008 in response to local data showing teens in Chelsea are more likely to abuse drugs and alcohol than state and national averages. SRSLY promotes positive family and community involvement and school bonding, works to limit youth access to alcohol and other drugs and reduce parental approval of youth drug use. SRSLY receives support from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea, the 5 Healthy Towns Foundation and the Coghlan Family Foundation. For more information, call (734) 593-5279 or visit www.srslycoalition.org.
The SRSLY coalition consists of representatives from across Chelsea, Dexter, Manchester and Stockbridge, including the schools, hospital, library, law enforcement, churches, businesses, parents and youth. SRSLY focuses on primary prevention among youth aged 10 to 15, but is open to anyone interested in preventing youth substance use by promoting a more positive and healthy community.
