Snow Removal Reminders (For When “The Weather Outside Is Frightful”)

With today’s winter storm warning beginning at 10 AM until Midnight with 5-8 inches total snow accumulation forecasted, the City of Dexter wants to remind citizens what they can do to help.

“Snow Removal Reminders”

“In preparation for the impending inclement weather, please remove all cars from the street as soon as possible, especially overnight.Basketball hoops and any other obstructions should also be removed from the right-of-way. DPW crews will be removing snow during the day today in preparation for the evening commute and overnight prior to the Thursday morning commute.

“Residents: Please clear your sidewalk of snow and ice within 48 hours of snow cessation.
“Business owners: Please clear your sidewalks within 4 hours of snow cessation or by the start of your business day.

“Please shovel the snow onto your property. It is against City Ordinance to shovel the snow into the street or onto a neighbor’s property.

“We also request that you please help the fire department by making sure that fire hydrants around your home or business are cleared of snow, accessible and visible from the street as soon as possible after a snow storm. Every second counts in an emergency situation.”
