Sheriff Blotter May 31-June 8

A chase in Webster Township started when a resident was sitting at home in the 7800 block of Webster Church Road heard a bang at 11:27 p.m., May 31. The resident went to the door leading to their drive way and found one of the window panes broken in and a man was standing in the driveway. The stranger got into their car and sped off and the resident got in their vehicle and gave chase. A spokesperson from the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office did not say how long the resident followed the attempted burglar’s car, but it was long enough to get the driver’s license. Through the information provided by the resident, deputies identified a 39 year old Howell man. Deputies are seeking an arrest warrant from the Washtenaw County Prosecutors Office. They speculate that the suspect was seeking marijuana, as they said the house is home to a medical marijuana caregiver.

A 45 year old woman was arrested in the 8000 block of Forest Street for domestic violence at 11:32 p.m., June 2. She was taken to the Washtenaw County Jail and charges have been submitted for review with the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office.

Deputies and the Huron Valley Ambulance called to Apricot Lane for a heroin overdose at 4:55 p.m., June 3. The unidentified overdose victim was taken to the hospital. The family then called deputies again after that, saying they had found the stash of drugs. The rest of the report was not released by deputies.

A driver pulled over in the 700 block of Baker Road to use the shower facilities just off I-94 at around 6:00 p.m. June 6. The driver left their cell phone in the shower room while bathing. Upon exiting the shower the driver discovered that the phone had been taken. Attempts have been made to use the GPS software to locate the phone, but since the phone was turned off. Deputies have no suspects.

A car was pulled over near the corner of Dexter-Pinckney and North Territorial Roads at 6:52 p.m., June 5. One of the three people in the car was a 43 year old Ypsilanti man with an arrest warrant. Deputies took his arrest as a pretext to search the car. They found a small amount of marijuana on a 21 year old Saline man and more in the center counsel. The marijuana has been sent to a lab for analysis. Pending results, deputies say they plan to seek charges against the Saline man for the marijuana found on him and against the 18 year old Ypsilanti man for the marijuana in the center console.

A resident in the 5900 block of Joy Road called the sheriff at 11:55 a.m., June 6, for a break in, in their detached garage. The door was unlocked. The suspect, who deputies described as an African American man in his mid 20’s, was gone when deputies arrived. A chain saw was taken.
